The Satellite Design Competition is delighted to be able to host a talk exploring the complex topic of Attitude and Orbit Control Systems (AOCS). Join us on Thursday the 22nd June at 14:00 BST to listen to Michael Dinsdale, one of the engineers at AIRBUS who has great experience in this area, most notably working on the AOCS testing for the Solar Orbiter mission!
A synopsis of the talk has been provided by Michael:
"The verification and validation of an AOCS subsystem is an involved process which runs throughout the development of a spacecraft, from initial algorithm development to final tests on the flight hardware before launch. This talk will describe various stages of this V&V, and how different tools and testing methodologies can be used to ensure the finished AOCS works as expected (with a but of luck!). Amongst other things we'll talk about Monte Carlo approaches to performance verification, software and hardware-in-the-loop testing, and the integration testing you need to ensure you didn't screw a reaction wheel on backwards."
This talk will be immensely valuable for anyone looking increase their knowledge in subsystem design and is well worth attending!
